St Barnabas Hospice Trusts's belief is that dying with dignity and having choices is a fundamental part of life.
The hospice, which is the leading charity in Lincolnshire providing palliative and end-of-life care, aims to ensure that everyone who comes through its doors receives dignified and compassionate treatment. It opened more than 35 years ago, and more than 80,000 people across the county have since received free end-of-life care and support.
It looks after its staff, too, and is a Mindful and Disability Confident employer. Family-friendly benefits include flexible working, shared parental leave, adoption pay and special and compassionate leave.
A rewards scheme means that staff can recognise a colleague for a job well done or for demonstrating the trust's values by sending them a thank-you card or recommending them for a certificate, which is presented by a member of the executive team. An annual awards ceremony celebrates individual and team successes.
A broad range of training and development opportunities are available for staff in clinical or nonclinical roles. The organisation is happy to discuss access to external training courses, including degree- or master's-level modules.
The hospice also has a diversity and inclusion forum that meets every eight weeks. The group consists of staff at all levels, including executive team representatives, who confirm, challenge and discuss how it is supporting diversity and inclusion and the ways in which it could improve. Its workforce strategy has a clear equality, diversity and Inclusion policy, with an action plan and desired outcomes.

The trust is working to ensure its work incorporates a greener, eco-friendly output, including ground, air and water-source heat pumps, solar panels and the infrastructure to support electric vehicles. It is also working on a carbon-zero strategy and action plan.
