With a mission to deliver the future of smart energy, SMS has been at the heart of the UK energy market for over 25 years. Providing a complete service, SMS funds, installs, operates and manages carbon reduction assets, including smart meters, EV chargers, and battery storage systems, which facilitate a smarter, greener and more flexible energy system.

Driven by the need for urgent action to address climate change, in 2020 SMS launched an ambitious target to become a net-zero business by 2030 – two decades ahead of the UK’s 2050 target.

Headquartered in Glasgow, SMS now has offices in Cardiff, Doncaster, Bolton, Cambridge, Cork, and Orkney. With a significant amount of field-based engineers who work at the frontline of Britain’s energy supply, health and safety is the business’ number one core value.

This not only means a strong focus on ensuring its people and customers stay out of harm’s way through excellent safety-at-work practices and training but also making sure employees are supplied with extensive mental health resources too.

SMS also has a strong focus on learning and development and is continually improving its package of benefits offered to staff.

SMS offers a number of different forms of leave depending on an employee’s circumstance including compassionate leave, fertility treatment, miscarriage, bereavement, and other unfortunate or unforeseen circumstances. Paid time for dependents - emergency cover, unpaid. It has 2023 increased our paternity leave package to two weeks of full pay.
