Scarf was set up as an urban aid project to tackle fuel poverty. Today it is a vibrant and value-driven social enterprise that advises householders, organisations, and communities in the north east of Scotland to save energy and money.
It was founded in 1985 and hsas its headquarters in Aberdeen, with another office in Dundee. Scarf employs more than 50 people to work with local and national government, offering telephone and face-to-face support.
Scarf has been named one of the Best Companies to work for in the not-for-profit sector in six of the past seven years. Competitive salaries are supplemented by flexible working arrangements, a 35-hour week, generous annual leave entitlements, flexitime and home working. Each employee is also given a day off to celebrate their birthday.
To support our communities, staff are also allowed an annual paid day off to volunteer. They support a local charity every year, and fundraising events allow families and friends to help raise cash for worthwhile causes.
Employees have access to net-pay deduction schemes for tech, bikes and fees for further education related to their passion, not just their profession.
Staff can also save on gym fees and Scarf operates its own bike hire scheme. Scarf supports staff with mental wellbeing. Mental health first aiders are available and there is free access to an employee assistance programme.
