Technology recruitment specialist, Oscar, puts equality high on the agenda, recently looking closely at its diversity and inclusion policy. It’s gone to great lengths to ensure the whole business has had the opportunity to contribute to the policy and fully embrace it, by both consulting with staff on its content and asking them to take a pledge to the policy’s values and core tenets.
And it’s not just employees embracing the policy, as CEO, Andy Morrell, has been undertaking work with education organisation, Fig Tree International, to provide shadowing opportunities to young people whose background means they may not ordinarily get the chance to have such exposure.
Oscar, which recruits for the technology, IT, and digital sectors is headquartered in Manchester, with additional locations in London, Amsterdam, Houston and Austin. The privately owned organisation, founded in 2008, prides itself on being relationship focussed, value driven and innovative.
Recognition is a key component of Oscar's culture to celebrate the hard work and the achievements of its team. The recruitment sector is known for its use of commission structures, but Oscar's is a little different, offering zero threshold and no cap when it comes to earnings, and ad-hoc prizes on offer for good performance. Recently, for every candidate placed consultants received a ticket for a prize draw, with the winner bagging vouchers worth £1,000. There are also usually two annual incentives where employees can win a trip abroad.
