Pizza-oven maker Ooni takes its workplace culture as seriously as its pizza toppings. The company incorporates a dough-making class and a pizza lunch into their onboarding, alongside an introduction to Ooni, the team, the business's way of working and its culture.

Their team of over 300 people worldwide make up a dedicated group of do-ers who value "kindness, passion, innovation, ambition and rigour" above all else. They live, work and play by these values.

To reward their team, employees are given £500 each year to spend on their passion. In addition, they also receive £1,000 to spend on Ooni products each year, plus 50% off additional products online. At the start of 2021, the company increased its holiday allowance to 35 days per year.

Ooni was founded by husband-and-wife team, Kristian Tapaninaho and Darina Garland, in 2012. The company revolutionised outdoor cooking when it launched the world’s first portable pellet pizza oven.

Ooni pizza ovens allow people to cook a pizza in just 60 seconds because they heat up to double the temperature of a domestic oven in 20 minutes or less. They also cost a fraction of the price of traditional wood-fired ovens.

The Edinburgh-based business is one of Scotland’s fastest growing companies. Its Scotland office is a custom-built hub that covers all bases, from design and prototyping, to cooking and filming. The company also has regional headquarters in Austin, Texas, Bonn, Germany and Shanghai, China, as well as remote employees around the world.
