Makara Health Communications challenges its employees to “value their own worth by giving 10 per cent more.”
The Salisbury-based healthcare communications consultancy wants its team of around 70 staff to “put more” into different parts of their lives. This could be their wellbeing by getting more active or being more efficient with their time by reducing meetings by 10 per cent.
The company specialises in brand comms, medical education, patient engagement and PR. Recent work has included bespoke training programmes for IBD nurses and helping a pharma company’s sales team quickly get to grips with a new product.
“Everything we do is informed by integrity, intelligence and kindness,” says the company. “We provide a personal and tailored approach and build long-standing partnerships with clients while ensuring employees have the perfect work-life balance.”
The consultancy, nearing its tenth birthday, has always endorsed flexible working. Most employees have worked remotely from day one, but it also welcomes those who choose to work in the office full-time or visit a few days a week.
The company works hard to bring people together. The ‘CoffeePals’ app randomly pairs employees for a quick catch-up, so they get to know people they don’t regularly work with. And there are always events people can join in with remotely, like Halloween costume and pumpkin carving contests.
Ultimately, Makara Health Communications wants “to be the agency that clients want to work with, and the most talented people in the industry want to work for.”
