LTE Group was created in 2016 and is the first integrated education and skills group of its kind, and the largest social enterprise in the country. It is dedicated to learning, training, and employment. Its strategic aim is to be a national leader in the development and delivery of education.
The Manchester-based organisation operates in over 120 sites across the UK, balancing flexible spaces with secure needs, and ensuring the quality of the teaching is maintained at a consistently high level, wherever the location.
With around 3,500 colleagues and over 95,000 students and learners, LTE reflects the combined strengths and services of five leading educational organisations and is chaired by Philip Johnson, formerly of Deloitte UK.
Awarded a Best Companies ‘ones to watch' status for 2021, the not-for-profit LTE Group builds economic success and reinvests for the public good and is driven by a strong social mission to improve lives.
While schools and places of further education had to remain shut during the Covid-19 crisis, many LTE employees volunteered to help out in their communities by delivering food and vital supplies to vulnerable and quarantined people.
Full risk assessments were in place for anyone who did need to come in, however, including an internal track-and-trace system. Even so, employees were encouraged to work from home wherever possible.
My manager regularly expresses their appreciation when I do a good job
LTE uses a performance appraisal process to measure manager performance throughout the year. This is based on a number of key factors including contractual compliance, learner achievement and staff engagement – and the group's Best Companies results support these action plans. LTE aims to develop its performance management process further over the coming 12 months.
This organisation is run on strong values / principles
A core LTE value is being one team, with staff collaborating and contributing to company goals. The organisation's senior leadership team of around 60 people represents its current and future leaders and meets times a year to share performance and development.
People in my team go out of their way to help me
Each month or so there have been group-wide team sing-alongs and mini-competitions to raise everyone's spirits. Many Teams groups were set up to prevent people from feeling isolated – especially those working at home, and a fitness challenge helped competitive colleagues to track their overall kilometres and achievements.
