The UK's most progressive creative agency, London-based Karmarama creates ideas and solutions across brand communication, digital and direct communication, digital products and platforms, data analysis and insight, PR and social, and production. The company develops advertising campaigns, data-driven content and mobile platforms for notable clients including the BBC, Confused.com, Honda, Just Eat and Unilever.
Ever since the London-based agency was founded two decades ago it has prided itself on one thing above all others: its people. No matter how big it has grown – from four guys working around a ping-pong table to now being part of the world's largest digital network, Accenture Interactive, the focus is still its people.
With an organisational culture of openness, acceptance and awareness, Karmarama successfully pivoted many of its initiatives to run remotely through Covid-19. These include the creative industry's first virtual internship programme, Karma Kadets, and the launch of the K-Klub, where each employee received their own membership pack to help make their home-working spaces feel more Karmarama.
The company also set about looking at new rituals to take forward whether it remains a dispersed workforce operating from 147 different locations – or not. With staff mental health and wellbeing considered hugely important, record numbers attended every meditation session offered by Calmarama, the in-house mindfulness app. The agency sense of community felt, at times, stronger than it ever was before.
Junior team members were not forgotten: more than 60 Karma Kids Packs went out to colleagues' children – with youngsters loving receiving post from mum or dad's work.

The Leadership Development Programme is Karmarama's flagship training scheme, developed in-house by the HR team. It is designed to help managers build and develop their personal leadership skills and always receives fantastic feedback. The agency plans to roll it out again this year, virtually.

The weekly Assembly (all-hands meeting) was digitised from week one of the pandemic, so all staff members heard CEO Ben Bilboul and other business leaders deliver a combination of light-hearted announcements and presentations, as well as more serious business topics.
This organisation has a strong social conscience

So Green Karma – with a goal to minimise the company's impact on the world and maximise efforts for the world – was formed. With the support of the, Green Karma committed the business to be net carbon-zero by 2025.
