Supplier of advanced wafer products and material solutions to the semiconductor industry, IQE, believes in a more equal tech sector.
The company has become a sponsor of the ‘Tech Talent Charter’, a non-profit organisation leading a movement to address inequality in the UK tech sector and drive inclusion and diversity.
Its involvement is helping the firm outline its own approach to equality, diversity, and inclusivity (EDI), and earlier this year it attended an ‘Inclusion in Tech Festival’ to help achieve its goals.
IQE’s core business is the design and manufacture of compound semiconductor wafers, or epiwafers, using a process called ‘epitaxy’. These products enable much of today’s technology to work, including mobile phone handsets, 5G infrastructure, facial recognition systems, and multicolour uLED displays.
A manufacturer with over 30 years’ experience, IQE has developed a reputation for excellence and reliability. This, it says, is thanks to the expertise and diversity of its workforce.
As a global team, teamwork and collaboration is not only key, but gives the firm a powerful competitive advantage. This culture of working together allows IQE to stay at the forefront of technology and drive improvement throughout the organisation.
To ensure it continues to attract the skilled people it needs to grow, IQE thinks outside the box when it comes to recruitment. Along with offering upskilling incentives for those looking to transfer from different industries, it also regularly works with universities and schools and attends careers fairs.
