Celebrate Life! is the mantra at the UK's leading sparkling wine supplier, Freixenet Copestick which released a special edition Prosecco to highlight the contribution of key workers during the pandemic and gave away a large number of bottles to Superheroes nominated by the public. Staff also got to toast the occasion receiving free bottles of fizz to celebrate the launch.
Freixenet and Copestick Murray merged in January 2019 to become a major player in the UK drinks market. The company boasts an extensive portfolio across still wine, sparkling wine, beer and spirits, including its three pillar brands: i heart Wines, Freixenet and Mionetto.
Freixenet Copestick likes staff to have fun and socialise together and in normal times everyone sits together in the plush open plan office in Newbury.
Wellbeing, fundraising and teamworking are promoted through employee-led working groups and staff are encouraged to work together as a team, outside their normal roles. Employees took part in a charity challenge to cover the distance from the office in Newbury to the winery in Spain, the bottling plant in France, the group head office in Germany and back to Newbury. Staff walked, ran and or cycled during lockdown individually or with their families with the proceeds going to the Drinks Trust to support colleagues who have been affected by job losses in the hospitality industry.
Successes are celebrated at regular all-company meetings and the firm held a virtual Christmas party, bringing festive cheer to the team.
I have confidence in the leadership skills of the senior management team
Managing directors encouraged staff to take lunch breaks and gave everyone an afternoon off to relax and do something fun instead of working. Each member of the leadership team also headed up a team in the 24 days of advent challenge completing 24 minutes of physical activity every day.
I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the success of this organisation
The bonus scheme is based on company performance and individual performance against personal objectives. As 2020 was such great year, everyone achieved more than 100% of their bonus with the managing directors giving everyone another 10% to recognise the great efforts and achievements during such an extraordinary year.
The experience I gain from this job is valuable for my future
As well as carrying on with the normal work-based coaching and development during the pandemic, the firm boosted staff skills in Excel, project management and innovation and launched a management training programme. Freixenet Copestick also provides a weekly recruitment update to showcase opportunities across the company.
