Paddleboarding, kayaking and picnics were among activities employees at Exeter College chose to take part in as part of staff development week, in July last year. The activities day promotes teamwork and provides a way for the college to thank the staff.
Award-winning Exeter College was established in 1970. It is the only further education college in Devon to be rated "outstanding" by Ofsted. The college provides tertiary education for between 10,000 and 12,000 students and offers learners a variety of ways into the industry or further study.
It was shortlisted for the coveted title of Times Educational Supplement FE College of the Year and the FE Week and Annual Apprenticeship Conference Apprenticeship Provider of the Year award.
In 2020, five inspirational BTEC students were recognised by Pearson's BTEC Awards. The college has also been given commended status at the Association of Colleges' Beacon Awards for its approach to mental health support and apprenticeship work.
The college employs more than 1,000 people and believes that they are at the heart of its organisation. It recognises that staff are its most valued asset and that success is a direct result of the quality of people who work there.
It says it is committed to developing a high-performance workplace, where engaged and talented people and teams achieve truly exceptional, sustained results by offering substantial staff development opportunities.
