Cheltenham Borough Homes is responsible for the management and maintenance of Cheltenham Borough Council’s housing stock and housing and homeless service. It is a non-profit making limited company with a non-executive Board of Directors.
Cheltenham Borough Homes is dedicated to being a person centred organisation that cares for its colleagues and customers. To ensure that this happens, a set of four core principles are in place; Trustworthy, Supportive, One Team, and Respectful.
The organisation also takes care to look after the mental and physical wellbeing of its employees through a number of practices.
Wellbeing benefits include the provision of an Employee Health Cash Plan, the opportunity to join the BUPA health cash plan, access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and App, flu vaccinations, Wellness Recovery plans, medical assessments and the provision of a local Occupational Health Care provider.
Cheltenham Borough Homes also has a Wellbeing Zone, where helpful wellbeing related training is available. Its team of Wellbeing Champions support colleagues with all aspects of their wellbeing and meet to organise wellbeing activities and events for employees. Recent events include Mental Health Awareness week with a range of activities each day.
The Wellbeing Champions continue to support colleagues by sharing fun online quizzes and provide a range of games in the offices. They are also planning to celebrate the ‘National Play Day’ in 2023. Following a successful pilot, the organisation provides free breakfasts and is setting up ‘Wellbeing’ areas in all the kitchen/communal areas of all of its offices.
My team is fun to work with
The ‘We are CBH’, 'Time to Talk' and 'Toolbox Talk' sessions provide opportunity for teams to communicate and allow colleagues to be heard. In addition to this, the People Manager group held 3 times a year provides a forum for colleagues to receive updates, understand priorities and work through any challenges collectively and collaboratively.
The leader of this organisation runs this organisation based on sound moral principles
Business priorities and objectives have been set and clarified through the organisation’s HRA Business Plan and Performance Framework programme priorities. The Executive team filter messages down into the business via meetings with Heads of Service who then communicate these to their Managers, who then communicate to their teams.
I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the success of this organisation
To maintain culture regardless of where employees work, all colleagues are encouraged to live by the values of one team. Face to face meetings are encouraged throughout the course of the month so that colleagues interact with one another to assist with increased communication, collaboration and a sense of belonging to the team and organisation.
