Hard-working employees at Boss Professional Services cultivate long-standing relationships with clients through their recruitment businesses.
The London-based business has grown since it was established in 2013 to recruit for professionals working in the energy sector, mainly in Asia and the Middle East. It has added a team of more than 150 contractors in its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) division and the flourishing smart technologies team now has more than 50 people.
Throughout the group, people are the focus. Boss invests in their ideas and goals and works alongside them to create new businesses in partnership. The company recognised that individuals were affected by the pandemic in very different ways over the past year. To make sure everyone felt supported, the leadership team strived to be transparent and consistent in its communication, offering flexibility while working from home, continuing investment in training and upholding incentive schemes.
Quarterly lunch clubs – part of the reward scheme for meeting sales targets – had to be suspended during the pandemic, so colleagues were sent Deliveroo vouchers instead to enjoy a takeaway with their family or housemates. While travel has been limited, employees can still book a place on the next company trip by performing well in their jobs. Shares have been awarded to two people in the management team for exceptional results.
I love working for this organisation
The results from staff surveys have been shared with employees and in 2020 the company tackled feedback about hiccups in communication by ensuring that all staff members can raise issues directly with the leadership team.
My team is fun to work with
Before Covid-19 restrictions, staff enjoyed getting together out of work for karting and white-water rafting. Although social events were forced online during 2020, team members have stayed on their toes by competing in fitness events, and relaxed by sharing virtual Friday afternoon drinks.
This organisation has a strong social conscience
Boss has worked with Streamz, a London youth charity, for three years and its employees contribute to the cause not only through donations but by helping young people develop their CVs and advising them on how to interview well. The company is also the main sponsor for Hartley Wintney Football Club in Hampshire.
