Founded as Alfred Marks in 1919 before rebranding as Adecco in 1996, the London-based company's services range from finding temporary and permanent staff for clients to outplacement, career advice, training and consulting and its 469 workers are based at 110 locations across Britain. Staff, who also have access to more than 7,000 learning modules to help them grow professionally, are clear about what is expected of them and find the experience they gain in their job valuable for their future (both 83%). In addition to the annual conference, regional social events ensure teams are able to celebrate their successes and share team spirit. And there's plenty of that. Colleagues care about each other (85%) and, added to this, relationships with managers are strong. Adecco runs a number of incentive schemes, with prizes ranging from £1,000 vouchers for days out and quarterly treats such as cookery lessons in Paris to a five-star, all-expenses-paid trip for the very top performers. Last year the destination was Rio de Janeiro and next month winners will be whisked away to Marrakesh for five days. Despite this, the company scores least well on questions in our Fair Deal category and for people feeling fairly paid compared to those in similar positions in rival firms (47% positive). Three-quarters of staff earn £25,000 or less, including consultants whose average salary is £20,518. That said, employees believe they have a positive future ahead of them with the organisation and wouldn't leave tomorrow even if they were offered another job (both 79%).
