Founded in 2006 as a social enterprise, Action Sustainability is a dynamic and progressive company that specialises in sustainability and sustainable supply chain services.
The company has physical offices in London and Sydney, Australia, but its work is global – reaching clients in Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas.
Not only does Action Sustainability want to inspire the people that it works with, but it says that the sustainability sector itself is one that inspires the people working within it.
With a dedicated and passionate team all bringing different skills sets and expertise, the organisation has made a commitment to empower its people to share their ideas and feedback so that meaningful change can be made.
Since March 2020 the business has adapted to virtual delivery in nearly everything it does. Although it says this was a “major challenge”, its substantial investment in technology and ergonomic assessments of its employees’ needs whilst working remotely enabled it to transition successfully.
During remote working, Action Sustainability held regular check-ins, socials, and all-team meetings to keep people connected.
Employees are contacted for regular wellbeing check-ins, are actively listened to, and have the assistance and support of Mental Health First Aiders within the organisation.
In order for employees to continue their own personal development and ensure they are learning and developing in a way that suits their role, Action Sustainability uses a competency framework to set out an individual career path for every role.
Managers are offered support in their roles through coaching and mentoring. There is also a peer sharing initiative for connecting with and talking to other managers in the organisation.
