VCG has launched an e-newsletter called ‘The Good News Network' to promote positive people stories from across the group.

The tone has been kept deliberately light and stories about new starters, exam successes and births have helped its people stay connected while working from home.

The Stockport-based company provides IT and communications services across a range of sectors. Customers include Hermes, Poundland and Kingspan.

It was formed in 2012 after a management buyout of network and communications provider Vodat, which was backed by Maven Capital Partners.

In 2017, the group, which also includes Vodat International, acquired Cheltenham IT services provider Axonex, helping to boost annual sales to £29.7m.

The company draws on diverse thinking and the power of teamwork to solve problems and staff engagement has been key during the pandemic.

Clear and concise business updates have been regularly emailed out to ensure everyone receives the same information at the same time, while virtual business presentations hosted by CEO Ian Lees have allowed employees take any concerns straight to the top.

Swivel chairs, desks and monitors have provided where necessary for homeworking and employees given flexibility to alter their working patterns to accommodate home-schooling.

Pay reviews took place for all staff in December 2020, despite the challenges of Covid, and the festive break was extended, with all employees being given additional holidays on December 23 and 24. All members of staff received a £50 Amazon voucher as a Christmas gift.
