Spa therapists at Rudding Park Hotel give something back to the community, as well as treat guests at the luxury hotel in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Its people undertake qualifications in cancer care with the NHS Natural Health School and volunteer at the Sir Robert Ogden Centre in Harrogate, giving therapies and make-up lessons at the centre and at the hotel's spa to patients living with and beyond cancer. Park was acquired by the Mackaness family in 1972.
Since then a consistent programme of development has transformed 2,000 acres of Yorkshire countryside and a magnificent Grade I-listed country house into a luxury hotel, spa and golf resort.
Over the past 31 years, Rudding Park has grown from 15 employees and a £1.5m annual turnover to having 330 staff and a £25m turnover. The owner’s philosophy is to invest in the business continually to ensure products and services are of the highest standard and accessible to all. More than £36m has been invested to date.
It has been possible only because of the high level of service its award-winning team provides. Achievements include a string of industry awards such as Toro Student Greenkeeper of the Year, The Caterer magazine’s Revenue Manager of the Year and a seventh-place ranking in The Caterer’s Best Places to Work in Hospitality list.
