The multinational drugs company, which employs more than 2,000 people in the UK, has its headquarters in Welwyn Garden City, in Hertfordshire, and a second site in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.

It operates a "location-agnostic" policy, which means staff can work from anywhere, whether that's at home, a co-working space or on site. It is a Disability Confident employer and offers equal maternity and shared parental leave of 75% pay for a year. Maternity mentors support mothers who return to work.

The organisation has a menopause policy that provides support and additional paid leave, as well as an extensive compassionate-leave initiative that covers an array of circumstances, including fertility treatment, bereavement and domestic abuse. Its carers' leave provision offers additional paid leave.

In pursuit of a collaborative environment that empowers and inspires colleagues, Roche has also moved away from the traditional hierarchical style of management.
