Remploy help disabled people find sustainable employment through their partnership with 2,500 employers. Their clients have disabilities, health conditions and other complex barriers. Remploy are one of the UK's leading disability specialists, with more than 70 years of experience delivering employment and skills support. Beth Carruthers is the current Chief Executive Officer. Established in 1944 by the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act, Remploy were a government-owned business, providing direct employment for disabled people in factories. The first factory opened in 1946 in Bridgend, South Wales, making violins. In 2015, Remploy left government ownership in a joint venture with MAXIMUS, an employment-services company, giving Remploy's employees a 30% stake in the business. In this way, Remploy ensures its employees feel they can easily and effectively contribute to their own wellbeing and that of the business through the Employee Ownership Council. They can sit on the Ownership Council and can have a real impact on the company's direction.

Colleagues are actively involved in shaping Remploy through the Employee Benefits Trust (EBT), the elected ownership council. They use Google Communities for employees to share best practice and have a magazine (Talkability) to keep everyone abreast of developments.
