Millwood Servicing is a London-based multi-award winning fire-safety protection and engineering company that designs, installs, maintains, repairs and commissions fire safety systems found in any building in the UK.
Protecting people and property from fires has been the focus of Millwood Servicing for 30 years. Millwood was set up in 1993 by Trevor Wood from his home in Surrey, as the sole member of staff. The company soon became an industry leader - working in the public and private sectors.
CEO and co-owner Matt Wood says the company offers a career, rather than just a job and that the ‘team’ are given a tailor-made programme that allows them to progress at their own pace. Matt joined Millwood 24 years ago as a junior engineer and learnt every role within the company that he now leads.
The company, now in its 30th year, protects countless lives across the UK at places of work, rest, faith, education, and play, and in doing so it distributes its results through all of its stakeholders. Its 1% campaign enables 1% of its annual turnover to go to charitable causes and this includes running their own Foundation.
In 2020 the organisation launched the WoodMor Foundation CIC, which creates, delivers and progresses unique yearlong challenges that evidence achievements, skills, and employable attributes. These person-centric and demonstrable attributes are then knitted together to create a MeMovieBadge™ outline for the WoodMorers’, which is then published, presented, and promoted around the UK to future engaging employers.
This organisation is keen to help people from disadvantaged backgrounds
Millwood provides long-term employability initiatives which increase work prospects for marginalised groups, such as those with additional needs, ex-offenders and the LGBTQ community. Through these experiences, individuals receive their very own MeMovie - an evidenced-based, personally created video cv which is then shared with the UK community and its partners.
The leader of this organisation runs this organisation based on sound moral principles
Leading by example is Millwood Servicing’s mantra, achieving this from its values of being ‘Honest, Open, Balanced, & Fair’ in everything it undertakes. Whenever the company receive invites to awards nights, client entertainment etc. The CEO, Matt always offers this out to the entire firm first, on many occasions giving up his place.
The experience I gain from this job is valuable for my future
Offering careers not jobs, Millwood’s holistic ethos to personal and supported development ensures that every member of staff gets the chance they deserve. Offering 1:1 monthly check-ins across the firm, one example of this is its work with ex-military personnel and in 2021 it became an Armed Forces covenant member.
