“Creating sunshine moments everyday” is the aim of social care provider, Millennium Support. The organisation, which helps adults with learning disabilities and complex histories, creates an environment where people “work together as one”. That means that the people it supports and its staff, who are affectionately known as "Millies", feel part of something special.
It even has a Ray of Sunshine page on its MyMillennium app where anyone can recognise a colleague for a job well done or share "sunshine moments". The launch of the app has revolutionised team communication and interaction across Millennium Support.
The family-owned organisation started as one service and has grown to helping more than 200 people across multiple residential and supported-living services in West and South Yorkshire.
Millennium Support’s vision is to create fulfilling lives for all the people it supports, achieving this with the help of its team of nearly 500 staff with their passion to make a difference. It says it is the drive of its people, and their willingness to “bring their own sunshine” that makes the organisation such an exciting place to be.
The journey of a person employed at Millennium Support is grounded in the values of the organisation, where everyone takes personal responsibility, is empowered to make a difference and to challenge — no matter who it is. This is put into practice by the Millennium VoiceNetwork, a group of 15 staff who regularly put chief executive Steve Clough in the hot seat at regular Q&A sessions.
