LondonEnergy creates energy from waste – enough to power over 80,000 homes.
Operating for almost 30 years, the energy, recycling and waste management company ultimately aims to send no waste from its sites to landfill.
Embedded in the North London communities it serves, LondonEnergy supports its staff – a team around 360 strong – to give back. It organises monthly volunteering events at the Felix Project, which helps to combat food poverty by collecting food from suppliers and distributing it to front-line charities and schools.
And this culture of giving back can be seen internally too, with employees awarding each other's good work and achievements with bonus points that they can redeem at various retailers. And these acknowledgements through the recognition platform can be seen company-wide, helping boost morale and motivation.
LondonEnergy also incentivises its staff through a generous leave allowance, an annual bonus scheme and a yearly pay increase, which saw staff receive a salary boost of 10% on average.
There's always an opportunity for a conversation at LondonEnergy. Regular company meetings allow employees to ask questions and receive feedback from the management team. Monthly pulse surveys give real-time insights into staff satisfaction, and 'You said, we did' noticeboards encourage staff to express their concerns, meaning managers and the leadership team can take action quickly to ensure they feel supported and happy at work.
And the MD is now visiting every department to talk to teams and get to know people, helping ensure everyone feels heard.

This job is good for my own personal growth
All employees can access a wide range of courses through the online learning management system, allowing them to learn at their own pace and at a time that suits them. There's a Future Leader Programme for managers, and each department has a training budget supporting staff to take courses aligned with their specific job roles.
This organisation has a strong social conscience
All employees are given reusable coffee cups to help reduce the number of cups ending up in the ground. And the company has a dedicated 'ReUse shop' with items saved from landfill. It also uses the many donations of cutlery, cups and glasses in its own departments to keep them from buying new ones.
