Liquidlogic started with two people in a rented office in 2000 and now has around 190 staff and a £25m turnover. Despite this, the software operation prides itself on retaining an atmosphere comparable to what one might find in a small family company.
The business provides specialist software to social services and education teams within local authorities. It is used to manage sensitive processes including child protection and adoption, and has been credited by customers with saving children's lives thanks to its ability to join the dots where child abuse and neglect were not necessarily obvious.
More recently, the platform was developed to manage all aspects of education including school admissions, free school meals, attendance data and home-to-school transport. Liquidlogic is also used within adult social care settings to manage support given to vulnerable adults.
The company, based in Leeds, employs a variety of staff from technical to social work experts. It supports a caring profession, which gives staff a greater sense of purpose. Benefits available to them include life assurance, private healthcare, discounted insurance and regular pay reviews. One of the company's mantras is to never forget the f-word: fun. It wants staff to enjoy their working lives, and this is a significant part of the culture.
Liquidlogic also operates on the principle that its success provides people with security and opportunities for career progression. So as the company grows, the staff grow with it.
