Lantra, established in the mid-1960s as the Agricultural Training Board (ATB), has evolved over the years to become a leading organisation focused on developing the competence and skills levels of farmers and growers across the UK. As an industry training board supporting agriculture and commercial horticulture, Lantra now covers the entire environmental and land-based sector, including land management and production, animal health and welfare, and environmental conservation.
Today, Lantra's primary aim is to ensure that training and development within the sector is industry-led and meets industry needs. This is achieved through the production of labour market information, national occupational standards, and apprenticeship frameworks.
Employee engagement is a central aspect of Lantra's organisational culture, with the dedicated Wellbeing Team arranging events throughout the year for staff to participate in, such as festive lunches, gardening events, and step challenges. The CEO holds biannual all-staff business update briefings, and the leadership team engages with the Employee Forum to consult on significant business matters. The executive team leads by example, demonstrating its commitment to the organisation's values and corporate behaviours in daily interactions with staff and customers.
To foster connection and collaboration, staff are encouraged to work from the office two days per week, and regular face-to-face social events are held on Lantra premises. The organisation continues to prioritise employee engagement and wellbeing, ensuring its workforce remains motivated, productive, and aligned with the company's objectives.
