"We never hide" and "we're in it together" are among the behaviours that make up the open, transparent and collaborative culture at Landbay, which was set up to provide a more accessible buy-to-let mortgage marketplace for investors, borrowers and brokers.

Building strong relationships is key to sustaining the culture and is encouraged by having an open-plan office with break-out areas, where staff can get together to bounce ideas off each other and have open, human conversations.

Volunteering days with the Cardinal Hume Centre, in London's Victoria, an organisation that helps those in poverty or facing homelessness, also boost team interaction and staff engagement. Social events throughout the year make sure staff have fun together.

All staff have a share in the business at Landbay, which has a flat management structure. Among the benefits on offer are hybrid working, unlimited leave, health insurance, a pension scheme, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, staff discounts with local businesses and a rewards system for those who demonstrate the company behaviours.

The company, which is based in central London, is an intermediary-only lender and its institutional funders include large financial institutions who use capital markets and retail banks supervised by the Prudential Regulation Authority. It is a member of UK Finance and the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association.

Landbay has ranked in the top 30 companies in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 and was invited to join the government’s Tech Nation Future Fifty 2020 cohort of leading private technology companies.
