In 1930 Cyril Haines Watts qualified as an accountant, setting up shop in a wooden shed with a desk, two chairs, a filing cabinet and a shared phone. More than 90 years later it is a national accountancy firm with more than 35,000 clients and more than 40 offices throughout the UK. The team of almost 1,000 employees provide more than 100 specialist services, including online accounting, audit and assurance, forensic litigation support, business improvement, funding and asset finance, and UK and international tax.
Haines Watts invests in its team from training and development opportunities to caring for their welfare so it knows it can count on them to look after its clients. As part of its Stronger Together wellbeing strategy to boost morale during the pandemic, Haines Watts launched a national activity challenge which involved staff running, walking or cycling around the equivalent distance of going around the globe, with inspiration and motivation from sports celebrities including former Olympic champion Sally Gunnell, and British middle-distance runner, Eilish McColgan.
Last year the Haines Watts team raised more than £24,000 for good causes through activities including a national fundraising campaign to support MIND's Red January, charity quizzes and taking part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillian Cancer Support.
Haines Watts prides itself on treating everyone as an individual, helping employees to build the career they want and to help them flourish in an environment driven by passion and authenticity, its core values.
