Green Action Trust, established in 1985, is an environmental regeneration charity based in Scotland. The Trust's work is woven into Scotland's environmental regeneration fabric, providing bespoke solutions to combat climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental inequality. It's also the driving force behind the Central Scotland Green Network, a £2.4 billion, 40-year green infrastructure programme.
The Trust is not just about environmental regeneration; it's equally committed to the wellbeing of its employees. It provides a range of benefits, including flexible working, life cover, an employee assistance program, and a generous pension contribution. A proactive approach to physical and mental health support includes private healthcare, access to online GP and counselling services, and gym membership. The Trust also promotes a cycle-friendly environment and offers a unique staff-led Social Fund for organising group events, fostering a close-knit community within the organisation.
Green Action Trust has cultivated an open culture, regularly organising staff briefings, and actively encouraging employees' contribution to the development of the business plan. A high degree of transparency and trust, fostered over years, ensures that ideas and networking are encouraged, propelling the organisation forward. Staff development is a priority, with training opportunities, secondments, and a bespoke external training course for the wider management team.
The Trust's culture of appreciation is reflected in its pay increase structure, focusing on length of service and achievement of objectives, and bonus payments at significant service milestones. The forthcoming Key Responsibility Areas initiative will further connect performance with pay banding.
