Everyone who passes their probationary period at media agency Goodstuff gets £100 to spend on something that will enrich their lives. Goodstuffers have used the And Some fund to learn to paint in watercolour, undertake wine tasting training, make cheese and learn to sew, among other things.
Goodstuff was founded in 2004 fuelled by its founding client Virgin's creative spirit, willingness to break the rules, and do the best for its customers. Today the 120-strong, full service media planning and buying agency is now the UK's fastest growing independent media agency working with clients including Ben & Jerry's, Bloom & Wild, Fever-Tree and Secret Escapes.
Driven by its desire to do the right thing, keep it simple and Be Good, London-based Goodstuff's mission is to be “The World's Most Inventive Agency”.
At Goodstuff employees are empowered to create and contribute to the inclusive culture upon which it was founded through the all-company Monday Morning Meeting led by co-founders Andrew Stephens and Ben Hayes and bi-monthly Sharing Sessions in which the best is discussed by everyone in the agency.
During the pandemic the private firm introduced Goodbehaviours guidelines for collaborative meetings and email hours. Goodstuff hasn't let the pandemic stop the social side of things. The annual employee awards ceremony, The Goodies, followed by the Christmas party went ahead virtually and all Goodstuffers received a Christmas care package with thank you cards for their hard work and continued effort in 2020.
I love working for this organisation
In 2020, as part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion Goodstuff launched its D&I network: the Do the Right Thing Council. The Council is made up of eight working groups covering different areas of diversity each spearheaded by a Partner in a leadership role.
This job is good for my own personal growth
All training programmes have continued during the pandemic during which time 30% of Goodstuffers gained a qualification from the industry's governing body, the IPA. Development opportunities include Manager's Academy, a six-month programme for all managers and regular all-agency training talks which everyone is encouraged to attend.
I am happy with the balance between my work and home life
In addition to mental health workshops, staff have free access to online fitness classes, and Goodstuff launched an agency 'Couch to 5k' group. It also ran a Feelgood Week, with activities including a crafty cuppa, one on one mindfulness sessions, a nutritionist talk and financial planning advice.
