Social landlord Golding Homes aims to make a difference to the lives of its staff as well as those of its residents through training, development, regular talent check-ins and being an enjoyable and rewarding place to work. Established in 2004 following the transfer of homes from Maidstone Borough Council, the housing association provides homes and services to more than 21,000 people across Kent and has invested more than £200m in regenerating local neighbourhoods.
Today Golding owns and manages just under 8,000 properties for social, affordable and market rent, shared ownership and outright sale with all of its profits reinvested back into building more new homes, improving its housing stock and delivering services.
As the largest landlord in Maidstone, Golding embraces its social responsibility to build sustainable communities and improve the life opportunities of customers through an innovative programme of projects and initiatives. Golding Giveback Days enable the workforce of more than 160 to take one paid day a year to volunteer with a charity or project and give something back to the community.
Golding has moved away from annual appraisals replacing the process with regular and continuous conversations with managers which outline goals and clear learning paths provide a route to grow their career.
Doing the right thing, embracing change, collaborating and keeping things simple are the principles which guide the team and are modelled by the senior management team which during the pandemic sent out weekly videos and wellbeing messages, recognising “Golding Stars” for their hard work.
