Forget Me Not Children's Hospice support children with life-shortening conditions and their families through a variety of services across 13 sites in West Yorkshire and Manchester. The organisation's vision is for a world in which children and young people no longer face life-shortening conditions, and until that day comes, their mission is to offer them and their families as much support, love and laughter as they can handle. Recognising the passion and hard work invested by members of the team, Forget Me Not look to create a positive working environment where all staff are offered support. The entire team was recently involved in the creation of new organisational values, which they now look to embed into their culture on an ongoing basis. Chief Executive Peter Branson places great importance on regular engagement with teams across the business, holding weekly meetings to celebrate successes and share updates. He has also begun to hold weekly coffee mornings, in which staff are invited to ask any questions they may have.
I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the success of this organisation
All of the line managers are able to 'job shadow' in other departments and this is particularly encouraged with its Care Department, as this enables our people to have a greater understanding of the care services that are offered to the children and families that the organisation supports.
I feel a strong sense of family in my team
Last year, colleagues were invited to attend a garden party at the Hospice Grounds as part of the organisation's All Team Day annual event. As a thank you to staff for their hard work, the event promoted relaxation and fun, with a live band playing in the garden, games and an ice cream van.
