"We don't just offer jobs; we offer careers," says The Energy Saving Trust. "Addressing the climate emergency makes working for us meaningful and rewarding."
And it's not just vocation attracting staff to the Trust – an organisation that's seen its headcount increase by more than 120% to almost 450 since 2020 – it's the engaging and supportive culture.
The London-based organisation empowers millions of householders every year to make better energy choices, works with governments to deliver energy programmes and supports businesses to become more energy efficient.
So, it's no surprise that it offers incentives to its staff to do their bit. They can choose where they work, reducing their carbon footprint. There's also the option of an interest-free loan of up to £10,000 to put towards something that saves energy or reduces emissions.
Employees can lease an electric car through a salary sacrifice scheme or take advantage of a cycle hire scheme, so they don't have to buy a bike and equipment themselves.
And it supports the wellbeing of its team, with a £300 yearly allowance – £25 a month – to put towards something that will benefit their mental or physical health, from gym membership to meditation apps.
And the 'star of the month' award encourages the 'feel good' in work as well as out. Every month, staff are given 10 stars to award colleagues demonstrating the values. The person with the most stars gets a £25 prize.

Four social committees have their own events fund to organise get-togethers in and around the Trust's offices in London, Belfast, Edinburgh and Cardiff, from festive and Halloween parties to bake sales and other fundraising activities. There are also virtual events, from wellbeing activities to one celebrating the Trust's 30th birthday.
This organisation is run on strong values / principles
'Getting to know our leaders' sessions have been introduced, with colleagues interviewing them about their career journey. The idea is to inspire those keen to progress at the Trust. The organisation has also invested in a new Learning and Development Manager to help staff map their career paths and identify training needs.
I feel proud to work for this organisation
There are plans for listening groups across the Trust to dig deeper into engagement survey results. The leadership team wants to understand better why people feel the way they do, so they can address the issues and make plans to resolve them in a meaningful and impactful way.
