Cartrefi Conwy provide affordable social housing to the people of North Wales. They manage and maintain these homes and environments while giving meaningful employment and volunteering opportunities to those out of employment or finding it difficult to maintain employment. Tenants are at the heart of everything that they do at Cartrefi Conwy. Every year they put on two large-scale events just for their tenants; the 'Big Day Out' and 'Older Person's Day.' These award winning celebrations are organised by a range of different employees from across different teams. They harness employees softer skills, hobbies and interests and use these to create the most incredible experiences for their tenants. Cartrefi Conwy also look to reward employees for their continued efforts throughout the year. 'One Step Beyond' Awards are part of their exceptional colleagues recognition strategy in which managers can reward a colleague for exceptional performance throughout the year. Colleagues will receive a letter from the executive team and a gift up to the value of £50. The purpose of 'One Step Beyond' awards is all about acknowledging and rewarding those exceptional efforts made by employees who make a significant positive contribution to the Cartrefi Conwy Group, and ultimately to the key strategic objectives of creating communities to be proud of and being a social contractor of choice.

Cartrefi Conwy's subsidiary company, Creating Enterprise, has recently opened a Passive House factory which enables them to build their own Passive House standard homes. These homes are 90% cheaper to heat than a standard 'bricks and mortar' home. Their first Passive standard build has commenced in Anglesey, and they aim to use this technology in all new builds going forward. Employees have been trained in these new build techniques and are now licensed to build these homes from start to finish.

Employees can apply for a grant for personal development activities that are outside of the normal scope of their day to day roles, but help develop valuable skills that can be transferred back to the workplace. They can make an individual application to apply for something they want to do on their own or they can make a mixed-group application if the activity involves several people.
