Creating memories and fun moments is part of the job at Bridge Leisure Parks and to keep its staff motivated and spirits high during the pandemic, bosses hired a comedian to put on a special show for the team. Regular quiz nights were also organised across the company, which runs holiday parks around the UK from Polperro in Cornwall to Ayrshire and Moray Firth on the Scottish coast featuring safari tents, luxury lodges with hot tubs, cottages and high-spec self-catering caravan holiday homes.
The holiday sector has been heavily hit by the pandemic but Bridge Leisure Parks was able to trade for the majority of 2020 and when it couldn't host holidaymakers it provided accommodation for the homeless in the region for the duration of the lockdown.
Staff, who are willing to put their heart and soul and “some of them” in to the job, are vital to the firm achieving its mission to “delight every visitor so they to wish return.”
Bridge Leisure Parks runs an instant recognition programme linked to its core HEARTS values (honest, enthusiasm, astounding, rapport, team, smile) issuing on the spot scratch cards for those delivering on them with prizes ranging from extra paid time off to takeaways. Team members can also nominate colleagues each month culminating in an annual awards ceremony, which was held online last year, with prizes ranging from £100, a trophy and some bubbles to £1,000 for the Ace of HEARTS award.
