Altro are a leading British manufacturer and supplier, based in Letchworth. They have been going strong for over 100 years and know that they can only grow further with great people on board, helping them shape their future. Their ambition is to be the global partner of choice at the forefront of design-led innovation, inspiring customers and meeting their real-world challenges through an unrivalled sector focus and solutions which stand the test of time. To reward employees for their continued efforts, Altro introduced a STAR (staff thank you and recognition) award in 2017. Department managers have a budget where they can directly reward employees whom have worked above and beyond, without needing a higher level of authorisation. This could be a cash amount, or taking a whole team out for a meal/activity. As well as encouraging employees to take part in fundraising activities, Altro launched a scheme where all employees can take a paid day off each year to support a healthcare related charity. There are a number of wellbeing initiatives in place at Altro. All employees attend an externally run stress management course. They also have a wellbeing programme, where they publicise a different health topic every month. Altro also have an employee assistance programme which offers telephone and face-to-face counselling.
