Out-of-home (OOH) media owner, Alight Media, recognises that every one of its employees can make a difference through its five core values: Blaze, Nurture, Collaborate, Celebrate, and Aspire.

One of the first priorities of the leadership team is to involve employees at all levels in the creation of this set of values that the business and all employees embody.

As they were created by the employees they were embedded quickly within the business and are displayed in the office, included in employee appraisals and constantly referenced in business updates. A team was also set up over the last 12 months to review the values and the behaviours associated with them. These were presented to the organisation at a company conference and a number of actions have been put in place to bring them to life.

The Senior Management Team in particular are encouraged to lead by example by 'celebrating' the great work of the team, 'nurturing' team members, encouraging 'collaboration' across the business, 'blazing' a trail by leading by example and helping their teams 'aspire' to the best possible personal and business performance.

The company also hosts an annual internal awards scheme at the end of the year which is linked to the values. Voted for by employees and decided by the Leadership Team, employees are presented with an award to inspire their colleagues with their performance and the prize includes a personal financial prize and a group outing to foster cross-team interaction.
