With its stunning sea lochs, rugged coastline and spectacular glens, Scotland's first national park is a magical place to work. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park covers more than 720 square miles of countryside, is home to 21 munros and 22 large lochs and welcomes more than four million visitors each year.
Its team of almost 200 people have an array of skills, strengths, talents and experience. Together they work to ensure that the park authority inspires communities, visitors and its partners to protect this special place.
The authority's mission is to be the vital force in conserving and enhancing the park. It covers an area of outstanding landscapes, habitats and communities – and it’s its job to protect it and reduce the impact of visitor and recreational pressures.
Its four aims are designed to safeguard a sustainable future. They are to conserve and enhance, promote the sustainable use of natural resources, encourage people to enjoy the area's special qualities and promote the sustainable development of communities.
The park is an idyllic place to work, but the authority's Balloch headquarters are within easy reach of Glasgow and Stirling. There is a station nearby, a cycle-to-work scheme, car-sharing opportunities and ample parking on site.
To ensure resources are spread across key areas, the authority has updated its structure and reviewed the organisation's priorities. It worked with operational managers to study workloads and agree smarter ways of working.
