Fair, compassionate and very, very generous. It sounds like a soundbite from one of Kimberly-Clark's tissue ads, but this company has a reputation for treating its staff well. Almost four-fifths of employees have confidence in the abilities of their fellow team-mates and 80% have a laugh together. In addition, there is a great deal of pride within the workforce for the company's reputation. Many employees (70%) feel the company demonstrates high levels of integrity when dealing with suppliers, and 81% say there are strong principles for treating customers well.
Nearly a quarter of the world's population, 1.3 billion people, use Kimberly-Clark's products, which include Kleenex, Andrex and Huggies. Its European headquarters are in Reigate, Surrey, and the firm gives generous benefits to those in its manufacturing plants, and 77% of staff feel their workplace benefits are fair compared with similar companies.
All staff are eligible for free healthcare, life insurance and 25 days' holiday. About 50% of staff own shares in the company and the share incentive plan gives employees one share for every two purchased.
Maternity pay is good and adoptive parents can take 65 days' leave, with full pay for the initial six weeks. The firm is introducing childcare vouchers and staff have access to therapeutic massage and a health club.
