Brothers Robin and Philip Andrews founded the recruitment company that was to become Daniel Owen in 1986, after they spotted a gap in the market for suppliers of reliable construction workers.
As the company grew, its knowledge of the building trade and engineering market expanded and a need for recruiters to find a pool of professional and technical talent was identified. This led to the creation of Daniel Owen, in 1995. It was set up to recruit for white-collar roles. In 2015, Workmates and Daniel Owen rebranded to become Daniel Owen.
Over three decades, the company has built up a unique and vast database of high-calibre candidates, some of whom have worked with the company since the early days. It enjoys long-standing and valued relationships with some of the country’s largest and oldest construction and engineering companies and local authorities.
Daniel Owen believes the emphasis it places on honesty, respect and reliability, while delivering exceptional service by "going the extra mile”, is how the company has built long-term relationships with the people and organisations it works with. Whether temporary, long-term or permanent candidates, the right person is matched to the right job, taking the pain out of recruitment for both clients and candidates.
Working for the organisation involves plenty of opportunities to support good causes, thanks to a dedicated group of "Charity Champions". Thanks to the group's work, employees can join in with initiatives to support children's hospices, food banks and take part in family fundraisers.
