Formed in 2014 following the merging of the dioceses of Bradford, Ripon and Leeds and York, Leeds Diocesan Board of Finance serves the communities of West Yorkshire and parts of North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, County Durham, Cumbria, and Lancashire.
A charity itself, the organisation has links to other charities within its community and is supportive of employees’ various charitable initiatives. Regular coffee mornings and competitions are held to raise funds and awareness for local causes, and parishes are involved in initiatives such as providing food and shelter within churches to help reduce poverty in their local communities.
In 2021, the organisation developed and introduced its brand-new intranet to inform and engage with employees, as well as forming a wellbeing working group to ensure teams remained close. Other team building initiatives included hosting virtual events such as regular coffee mornings, team prayers, Christmas gatherings and monthly book clubs. Staff were also placed into ‘buddy groups’, meeting weekly for non-work-related conversations.
Having recently refurbished its Leeds city centre office, Leeds Diocesan Board of Finance’s employees can now enjoy working in a modern open-plan space with multiple breakout rooms and a ground-floor coffee shop, providing a welcoming environment that encourages collaboration.
